Seashore Trolley Museum - interurban |
Description: |
Post card I bought. On back of card: Seashore Trolley Museum. Kennebunkport, Maine. One of twenty high-speed lightweight interurban cars built for the Cincinnati & Lake Erie Railroad of Ohio in 1930, No. 118 was sold eight years later to the Cedar Rapids & Iowa City Railway - better known as CRANDIC - of the Hawkeye State. Capable of speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour, the car was regularly operated on the CRANDIC until 1953, when it was acquired by the Seashore Trolley Museum. In its C&LE days it ran over a 285-mile route from Cincinnati, Ohio, to Detroit, Michigan. Joseph B. Doherty Photo. Date unknown. |
